Website Accessibility

Last updated: June 30, 2026

ZipThrifter is committed to making its website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every shopper, store owner, and creator to be able to browse, list, reserve, and communicate on our platform with ease, regardless of how they access the web.

ZipThrifter makes every effort to ensure compliance with established accessibility standards so that every visitor can navigate our site with ease, regardless of disability. If you have difficulty accessing any page, feature, photo, video, or form on this site, please contact the site administrator with your issue for prompt attention. The rest of this page outlines our ongoing site-wide ADA compliance efforts.

1. The Standards We Follow

We design and develop ZipThrifter to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the benchmark referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. WCAG is built around four principles: content should be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.

2. Steps We Take to Ensure Accessibility

  • Semantic structure. Pages use proper headings, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), and lists so screen readers can navigate logically.
  • Keyboard accessibility. All interactive elements (buttons, links, menus, modals, the photo-upload and checkout flows) are operable without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Focus management. Dialogs and drawers trap focus while open, close on Escape, and return focus to where you left off, so keyboard and screen-reader users never get lost.
  • Color & contrast. Text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, and we don’t rely on color alone to convey meaning.
  • Text alternatives. Images and product photos include descriptive alt text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Captions for video. Hype Rack videos are automatically captioned so deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors can follow along, with a captions toggle in the player.
  • Accessible forms. Every input has an associated label, errors are announced clearly, and required fields are programmatically marked.
  • ARIA where needed. Tabs, alerts, status messages, and toggle controls use appropriate ARIA roles and states to communicate their purpose and condition.
  • Responsive & zoom-friendly. The layout reflows for small screens and supports browser zoom and text resizing without loss of content or function.
  • Ongoing testing. We review new features against WCAG 2.1 AA using a combination of automated checks, keyboard testing, and screen-reader spot checks, and we treat accessibility as a requirement, not an afterthought.

3. Ongoing Effort & Known Limitations

Accessibility is a continuous process, not a one-time project. Some third-party or user-generated content (such as store-uploaded photos or externally hosted media) may not yet fully meet our standards, and we work to identify and remediate issues as we find them. We re-review the site as features change and welcome feedback that helps us improve.

4. Report a Problem or Request Help

If you encounter any barrier to using ZipThrifter, or need information in an alternative format, please email help@zipthrifter.com and describe the page and the difficulty you experienced. We take these reports seriously and will respond promptly to address the issue.

This statement reflects our current accessibility efforts and is reviewed periodically.
